a Romanian-Belgian filmmaker and curator working with memory, language, and the quiet tensions of belonging.

About Katia

Working between the UK, Romania, and Belgium, I engage with stories shaped by displacement and cultural in-betweenness, tracing the fragile relationship between personal memory and collective histories.

My films attend to what remains unspoken, often circling the tensions of language, belonging, and identity. Drawing from experimental documentary, archival material, and poetic writing, I approach cinema as a space of attention and observation.

Alongside my filmmaking, I work as a curator and programmer, spanning both institutional and grassroots contexts. My work has included collaborations with the British Film Institute, the British Urban Film Festival, and independent feminist cineclubs in Romania, with a focus on urgent, intimate, and often overlooked voices.
